PREREQUISITES AND MINIMUM AGE

Course requirements: PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver, or equivalent first level certification and be able to complete the following medical certificate.

The minimum age to start the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is 12 years.

Divers 15 years and older will earn an Advanced Open Water Diver certification

Divers between the ages of 12 and 14 will get Junior Advanced Open Water

Divers between the ages of 10 and 11 can earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification. Once they turn 12, they can complete the deep dive and earn the Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification.

Divers certified as PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Divers automatically obtain the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification upon reaching the age of 15. Any patent or eCard replacement made the day after the diver’s 15th birthday will automatically show an PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (not Jr. Advanced Open Water Diver).
